Backyard Kids, LLC is recalling approximately 192,000 KidKraft Farm to Table Play Kitchens due to a strangulation hazard. The recall affects units sold online at the KidKraft website, the Amazon website, and the Walmart website from 2018 through July 2025 in the United States.HAZARD:
Young children who climb onto the counter or crawl through the rear opening of the play kitchen risk having their clothing snag on the plastic or metal hooks designed to hold toy kitchen accessories (e.g., pots and pans), which could lead to a strangulation hazard.
AFFECTED PRODUCT:
- KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens
- Black and light gray with wood-like countertops
- Measuring about 44 inches in length, 13 ¾ inches in width, and 43 inches in height.
- They feature model number 53411 on a sticker at the back.
- The recall includes units with hooks that could catch on children's clothing.
- Originally manufactured by KidKraft, Inc.
The issue was identified following an incident in February 2023, where a child was asphyxiated after his shirt got caught on one of the hooks while climbing and crawling through the opening at the back of the play kitchen, where the toy kitchen accessories are held. The child was unable to rescue himself and died from strangulation and asphyxia.
The recall was initiated on July 31, 2025. Backyard Kids is offering free replacement hooks to address the hazard.
If you or a loved one are harmed, it is important to report it. Reporting can help to detect & resolve outbreaks early and prevent others from being harmed, and enables better surveillance. If symptoms persist, seek medical care.
