4 months ago •source cpsc.gov
United States
Firefly Fuel Inc. has announced a recall of its Firefly Safe & Green 32 oz. fuel bottles due to a risk of poisoning to young children. The product, which violates multiple safety standards, was sold online in the United States through Amazon, Walmart's website, and the company's website from August 2019 through May 2025. Approximately 11,275 units are affected.HAZARD:
The recalled Safe & Green 32 oz. fuel bottles contain hydrocarbons, which under the Poison Prevention Packaging Act must be sold in child-resistant containers. The product comes with a nozzle attachment that is not child-resistant, making it non-compliant with safety requirements. Using the nozzle in place of the child-resistant cap creates a serious poisoning risk for children. If hydrocarbons are inhaled into the lungs, they can lead to chemical pneumonia, lung injury, and potentially death. Furthermore, the product violates the Federal Hazardous Substances Act because it is inaccurately labeled as “Non-Toxic.”
AFFECTED PRODUCT:
- Firefly Safe & Green 32 oz. Fuel Bottles
- Comes in a transparent bottle with a white cap and nozzle applicator.
- Bears the “Firefly” brand, “Safe & Green” in large green font, followed by “The One Fuel.”
- The label also states “Non-Toxic”, “Readily Biodegradable”, “Odorless”, “Bright Flame” and “Certified Kosher” on the front of the bottle.
- The rear of the bottle contains hazard labeling and the firm’s business address.
The issue was identified due to the product's non-compliance with child-resistant packaging requirements. The recall was initiated on August 14, 2025, and is classified as a safety hazard. No incidents or injuries have been reported.
