Air Vent Inc. has issued a recall for electric motors used in gable- and roof-mounted attic fans due to a potential fire hazard. The safety cutoff in these motors may pose a risk of short circuit and fire. The products were sold nationwide at various retailers in the United States, including ABC Supply and Lowe’s.

The recall affects:
- Electric motors for gable- and roof-mounted attic fans
- Models DOW-136-0-34-XIN, DOW-136-0-26-XIN, DOW-136-0-40-XIN, DOW-136-0-40-XIN-3/4”, and D-RE-PSC-127/20-4P1SP.
- Sold from August 2003 through December 2013.
- These motors can be identified by a distinctive vent pattern on the motor end bells.
- Approximately 2.9 million units are involved in this recall.

The issue was discovered following 159 reports of incidents involving burning or fire. The recall was initiated on August 28, 2025, and is classified as a Fast Track Recall.
