Positec Tool Corporation has announced a recall of certain electric corded chainsaws and pole saws due to a potential laceration hazard. The recall affects approximately 49,000 units sold in the United States and 3,000 in Canada. The products were distributed through Walmart, Harbor Freight, the Worx website, and the Amazon website in the United States. The affected products were sold from September 2024 through March 2025.The recall includes:
PRODUCT NAME: Hyper Tough 9 Amp Electric Corded 14” Chainsaw
- Item/SKU/UPC: HT21-401-002-01
- Sold at: Walmart stores, Walmart.com
- Manufacture Date Range: 10/10/2024 – 12/01/2024
- It is a black saw with red trim, marked Hyper Tough on the saw body and on the bar.
PRODUCT NAME: Worx 8 Amp 14" Electric Chainsaw
- Item/SKU/UPC: WG305
- Sold at: Worx.com, Amazon.com
- Serial No. Range: Serial numbers starting with the first six digits between 202408 and 202501
- It is an orange and black saw marked WORX on the saw body and on the bar.
PRODUCT NAME: Worx 8 Amp Electric Pole Saw
- Item/SKU/UPC: WG309
- Sold at: Worx.com, Amazon.com
- Serial No. Range: Serial numbers starting with the first six digits between 202408 and 202501
- It is an orange and black saw marked WORX on the saw body and on the bar, and is shipped with an 8-foot pole extension.
PRODUCT NAME: Portland 9 Amp 14" Chainsaw
- Item/SKU/UPC: SKU 58949 / UPC 193175451774
- Sold at: Harbor Freight stores, HarborFreight.com
- Serial No. Range: Between 37567 2442 and 37567 2451
- It is a green saw with a black bar, marked Portland on the bar.
The issue was identified when it was discovered that the main switch on the saws can fail, allowing them to continue running even after the switch was released. The recall was initiated on July 3, 2025, and is classified as a Fast Track Recall.
