CT New Energy Technology has announced a recall of its CT-ENERGY Lithium Coin Battery Chargers due to a risk of serious injury or death from battery ingestion. The chargers, sold online at the Amazon website and the Walmart website throughout the United States from March 2024 to May 2025, do not meet safety standards for child-resistant packaging.HAZARD:
The recalled battery charger fails to meet federal safety requirements for products with button cell or coin batteries. The lithium coin batteries in the charger are easily accessible to children, creating a risk of accidental ingestion. Additionally, the batteries are not sold in child-resistant packaging, and the package lacks the warning labels required under Reese’s Law. Swallowing button or coin batteries can lead to severe injuries, internal burns, or even death.
AFFECTED PRODUCT:
- CT-ENERGY Lithium Coin Battery Chargers with Rechargeable 2032 Batteries
- With model number "nc-02"
- Which includes four rechargeable 2032 lithium-ion batteries and a USB cable.
- The brand name "CT-ENERGY" is displayed on the front, and the model number is on the back.
- Approximately 1,100 units are affected by this recall.
The issue was identified due to the chargers' non-compliance with mandatory safety standards for products containing button cell or coin batteries. The recall was initiated on August 28, 2025.
