January 10, 2023. Due to the interruption of water service a precautionary boil advisory will be issued to residents and business owners in the Aberdeen, Autumn Oaks and Eagle View subdivisions. The boil advisory will last about 48 hours and may be extended if additional testing is needed.

Hammond, Highland, Hebron, Hobart, Merrillville, Michigan City, Portage, St. John, Schererville, Valparaiso and Wanatah. Outages appeared to remain in communities farther south, including LaPorte, Lake Village, Lowell, Schneider, Sumava Resorts and Wheatfield. The hardest-hit areas in Kankakee Valley REMC's service territory included Starke and Pulaski counties. Some members in Porter, LaPorte and Marshall counties also were affected.
