A power outage affected 3,900 homes and businesses in Wailuku and Waiehu. HECO said on social media that the outage was not due to a Public Safety Power Shutoff. At 9:00 p.m. the utility had restored power to a majority of affected customers.

An estimated 2,000 customers are without power this morning in Wailuku. The outage was first reported at around 5:40 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, 2022. Crews from Hawaiian Electric are investigating the cause.
