Five thousand customers on Tybee Island and Wilmington Island are without power after officials with Georgia Power say a tree fell onto a transmission pole. Officials could not comment on the location of the pole for safety reasons.

Several thousands of people are without power after a storm moved through Coastal Georgia Thursday afternoon. According to Georgia Power, more than 4,200 outages are reported just on Tybee Island, with about 2,000 more scattered throughout Savannah, Garden City, Pooler and Thunderbolt.
