Respiratory illness on child passed on to adult, Duluth, MN, USA

Duluth, Minnesota, United States

6 year old with acute coughing, not a lot of nasal drainage, but cheeks super red, without fever. Low appetite, low energy. Cough started Thanksgiving Friday, escalated to croup cough by Monday morning. Cough exacerbated in evenings and nights, had to sleep at an angle to avoid choking. Waited it out a few days, treated with home remedies and honey-based "Cough syrups", Humidifier, the works. Vicks vapor rub. Lots of fluid.

By Thursday, went to urgent care to find relief, as voice had been lost at this point. Received one dose of steroids in juice after physical assessment. This helped with the voice loss, and made the cough progress to wet cough.

They did not test for anything at UCC, only concurred on the croup parental assessment. Sent child home to convalesce. It is now... 1 week since first cough symptoms, and wet cough is present, but inconsistent throughout the day. All other symptoms have resolved. | Symptoms: Fatigue, Loss of Appetite, Cough
