My friend's family got sick but only one tested positive, MN, USA

So get this…I have a friend who got sick. Two of his family members also got sick. They got tested. 1 of the 3 tested positive for COVID-19. Yet they all had the same symptoms and lived in the same house. Wow. YOu’d have to assume they had two separate false negatives?
