We started using these DreamBone peanut butter knots and Twist sticks as a post meal treat and 3-4 through the day for the past 3 years! Until recently things started changing with weight loss, skin yeast infections/ loss of hair (patchy crusted lesions that looked like eczema), apathy, and when taken to the Vet she was diagnosed with diabetes. Gidget was started on Vetsulin 6 units twice a day (she eats twice a day). Yesterday he Blood sugar level was 176 mg/dl, and to evaluate she was given a single DreamBone peanut butter flavored Twist sticks. 2 hours later her Blood sugar level was off the chart reading only “Hi” on the glucometer meaning her Blood glucose level was well over 700 mg/dl! She was given extra units of insulin to manage the high level and 12 hrs later she was still over 500 mg/dl and was given 8 units this morning and will continue to adjust her treatment with glucose curve monitoring today! These treats are dangerously causing diabetes in our pets!
