Complaint #1- Employees exposed to struck by hazard due to lack of any procedure for handling of ammunition or training in firearm safety The CSHO could not substantiate this complaint item. Employees do not routinely handle ammunition, other than selling it. Employees do not perform loading and unloading of firearms. If a customer brings in a loaded firearm, they are instructed to leave the premises and unload their firearm. Employees do not test firearms, that work is performed by a gunsmith at a different location. Through employee interviews, it was determined that employees know how to handle firearms. Complaint #2- Employees are exposed to health hazard due to lack of follow-up cleaning after employees test positive for COVID-19 and lack of enforcement (masks, social distancing, etc.) The CSHO could not substantiate this complaint item. The employer has sectioned the entrance to the store to funnel customers to a sanitation station. They can use hand sanitizer or wash their hands with soap and water in the bathroom next to the sanitation station. If an employee observes a customer not sanitizing or washing hands, they are asked to go back to the station and sanitize. Employees and customers have the option to wear masks if they choose. The State of Texas has reopened for for normal capacity. Masks are no longer mandated. #3- Employees exposed to health hazards due to lack of proper storage of flammable substances, including volatile cleaning chemicals (including acetone, MEC-methylene chloride, and TCE-trichloroethylene). The CSHO could not substantiate this complaint item. During the inspection, the CSHO did not observe any volatile chemicals at the facility. Employees may use gun oil on occasion, but do not use any cleaning chemicals. The CSHO did not observe any cleaning chemicals in the main storefront or the back office area.
