Due to construction in the building, the forklift battery charging station has been temporarily relocated to a new location in one corner of the plant. The battery charging station lacks the following required by 1910.178(g): - ANSI compliant eyewash unit -Spill kit for neutralizing spilled electrolyte - Adequate ventilation. The employer was going to add ventilation through the wall, but this has not been done. Batteries are removed from the fork trucks using a hoist and stored on wood skids on the floor during charging. In addition to the above, employees have not provided with hazard communication training related to battery charging including the hazards of spilled electrolyte. Due to COVID precautions, the employer discontinued the requirement to use an apron and a faceshield when handling batteries.Alleged Hazards: 1, Employees Exposed: 12
