Regulatory Report

Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, Learn Charter School - Hunter Perkins Campus, 1700 W 83rd Street, CHICAGO, IL, 60620, USA

3 years ago business

1700 West 83rd Street, Chicago, 60620 Illinois, United States

Hazard Description: Today 41 students tested positive for Covid-19 and nothing is being done to prevent future spread nor is anything being done to protect students or staff. Hazard Location: Entire building. On Friday, September 17, 2021, Governor Pritzker issued Executive Order 2021-24 , which clarified schools' authority to exclude students and school personnel from school premises (including in-person instruction and extracurricular events) when students or school personnel are a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19; a close contact to a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19; or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19. The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) also adopted an emergency administrative rule, 77 Ill. Admin. Code 690.361, to implement the Executive Order. While IL OSHA cannot directly enforce this executive order, the Illinois Occupational Safety and Health Act requires employers to protect employees from recognized hazards that cause or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to its employees (820 ILCS 219/20(a)). Employers that violate this section of the Act may be cited and/or referred to another regulatory authority.
