I work in the long-term/skilled nursing building of Advantage Living Center- Armada. The corporate employees of this company havetold Environmental Services staff to CUT BACK on cleaning. We were told over a month ago that we were not allowed to clean the facility while resident meals were in progress. A single meal time for our building takes upwards of 3 hours most days because of how short staffed we are. During this time, we are not even allowed to take our housekeeping carts into the hallways to disinfect common areas. Since this rule has been put into place we have had an outbreak of over 15 positive COVID tests between residents and employees. Before this rule was out into place by corporate, our EVS team had done a phenomenal job disinfecting residents rooms and common areas over 4 times per day. We had never had a COVID case go beyond the person tested since the pandemic started, until now. Before this rule was put into place, we had zero citations on a mock - infection control survey. I emailed our corporate company over 2 weeks ago via the contact us - section of their website, with no response. I have also expressed my concerns to management within the building that the reason we are having an outbreak of cases within the facility was because we were only left with 2 hours a day to clean a building of 60+ residents. Nothing has been done. We have residents on our COVID unit that are wandering the halls because we do not have enough staff available to redirect them, which is making it worse.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-11-03
