Regulatory Report

Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, Lansing City of, 316 N Capital Ave, LANSING, MI, 48933, USA

316 North Capitol Avenue, Lansing, 48933 Michigan, United States

Hazard Location: Building Safety Department/Code Compliance Department 1. Employees have only been provided two disposable surgical masks (Blue paper style), two N-95 masks and a 4OZ bottle of hand sanitizer. No wipes, or any other items were provided. Employees have been instructed to make them last. The city's purchasing department has other items available for use including face shields, goggles, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and gloves in all sizes, but supervision has indicated that employees do not need items such as goggles or face shields. As for gloves, the only size that has been provided was large for 18 people of different sexes and size requirements. Getting new personal protective equipment is a battle to where some employees have bought their own to avoid the interrogation of why a new disposable mask is needed. 2. Regarding the forms provided by the health department that are to be filled out every morning, there is no verification of the answers provided, e.g., a few employees have entered under the temperature section "they do not know". This was not followed up on. Another employee asked two others "what is the normal temperature - and that was the number that was written down. Other employees have checked the box that they've been in contact with someone positive for COVID-19 and this information was never followed up on by management. 3. From experience, over 90% of the units that are entered the tenants do not have masks. 4. Commonly touched surfaces are not routinely cleaned throughout the day. 5. Employees walk around the office without masks on. When people are out on their "smoke break - some typically walk out without masks on, and when outside smoking do not socially distant themselves. 6. Where feasible, employees are not working remotely; the employees in one department are working remotely where employees in an adjacent are not. 7. Affected employees are not informed when another has tested positive for COVID-19; e.g., an employee in an adjacent area with shared spaces had reportedly tested positive for COVID-19, and only employees on one side of the office were informed and sent home to quarantine.
