Regulatory Report

Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, Capital Cardiology Associates, 7 Southwoods Blvd, ALBANY, NY, 12211, USA

4 years ago business

7 Southwoods Boulevard, Albany, 12211 New York, United States

1. The forehead thermometers used to take people's temperatures always read a little low because they're far away from people's heads. This means that if a patient reads 98 or 99 degrees on the thermometer, it's likely they have a real fever. However, this is not accounted for when temperatures are taken, which means people who are sick can enter the office. This continues the spread of COVID-19. 2. During the month of January, around half of the Check In/Check Out staff at the Southwoods office contracted COVID-19. For two days, one of the employees who contracted it continued to work because her doctor said she was okay. An employee was stationed 3ft from her, and another coworker was stationed 3ft from that employee. Employees were told by their supervisor that nobody was allowed to take time off in January because so many people were absent (because half the staff got COVID), so employees could not get themselves tested during the workday unless the employees found a timeslot during their lunch breaks (which is incredibly difficult). Employees are worried that since the employees had been so physically close to their sick coworker for 16 hours that week, the employees could have contracted COVID, but that the employees could not get tested to find out and were potentially getting other people sick in the meantime. Employees expressed their concern to their supervisor, but the supervisor said that according to NY State Law the employees were not technically exposed so the employees could not justify using sick time to get themselves tested. Only the employees' visible distress convinced their supervisor to offer top-secret rapid tests the office apparently has access to. This reluctance to take more precaution in the face of potential exposure shows a lack of community responsibility for safety in management. Because COVID-19 is an airborne disease, this affects everyone who enters the office. About 150(?) people work in Building 7 and between 200 and 500 patients enter daily. Hazard Location: Building 7
