The employer did not have an operational eyewash station when an employee was exposed to a bleach solution to her eyes while conducting a dental irrigation, resulting in chemical burns to her tear ducts due to delayed emergency flushing. 2. The employer did not provide appropriate eye/face protection (goggles or face-shield) resulting in eye exposure to a bleach solution. 3. The employer does not have safety data sheets (SDSs) available to employees for review of the chemicals stored and used at the workplace. COVID-19: 1. The employer is not following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to protect employees from exposure to SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, specifically; the employer is not implement contact tracing procedures for patients and employees, that reported to the employer, that they tested positive for the virus. a. Reference: CDC guidelines for Interim Infection Prevention and Control Recommendations for Healthcare Personnel During the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Pandemic; (1) Recommended routine infection prevention and control (IPC) practices during the COVID-19 pandemic; Create a Process to Respond to SARS-CoV-2 Exposures Among HCP and Others; Contact tracing should be carried out in a way that protects the confidentiality of affected individuals and is consistent with applicable laws and regulations.
