Regulatory Report

1122 228th Avenue Southeast, Sammamish, 98075 Washington, United States

1. Skyline High School employees have been serving students in-person, during the pandemic, for months. 2. If the school has a worksite safety committee, its make up and conduct do not comply with the WAC or Governor's Proclamation 20-09.3, "Phased Reopening of K-12 Schools", issued on December 16, 2020. For example, 3. employees have not been elected or selected as required by the WAC and there is no safety committee, to our knowledge, involved in ensuring that the COVID-19 prevention plan specific to Skyline High School is being effectively implemented at all times. The Governor's Proclamation prohibits in-person instruction unless certain safety requirements are met, including establishing and operating a safety committee consistent with WAC 296-800-130 and WAC 296-800-140, and other mandates outlined in the Proclamation (pages 3-4). I and other Association representatives have raised concerns with District administration over the lack of safety committees that are established and operating in compliance with legal requirements in many Issaquah schools. The conversations have been over multiple dates about a number of schools in the district. We believe the situation warrants the intervention of L&I. When school is fully open, there are over 110 staff.
