On Wednesday 5/27 we had a meeting at my dental practice to discuss returning to work and my employer refused to purchase the proper PPE (specifically gowns). He suggested that we go out and buy a bunch of lab coats for ourselves instead. I spoke with PII on 5/26 to inquire about what the proper PPE would be for dental offices returning for elective treatment and that includes a gown and N95 mask. My employer had purchased Kn95 masks from a dental supply company, which upon inspection and myself calling MIOSHA again on 5/27 and speaking with PII, they were not on the approved list of Kn95 masks(he also emailed me some information for high risk occupations). My employer has since ordered more kn95 masks, but now I am questioning whether we should only be using N95 masks (due to the MIOSHA email that was sent out last night at 8:30 pm). I am a licensed health care professional. My boss has said that there are "flexibilities" as far as PPE. However, in my conversation with PII those "flexibilities" are for emergency treatment. I feel unsafe going back to work in a high risk environment and not having the proper mask, gown and other PPE. I did file a complaint yesterday online, but apparently it was with the federal OSHA and not MIOSHA.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-05-29
