Regulatory Report

Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, NCDPS, Maury Correctional Institution, 2568 Moore Rouse Road, HOOKERTON, NC, 28538, USA

5 years ago business

2568 Moore Rouse Road, Hookerton, 28538 North Carolina, United States

1. The facility has an epidemic of COVID-19 on the tan unit and upper red. Staff have not been provided with the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Staff are given the same gowns to wear in the infected areas and have not been directed to change gowns once leaving the unit. 2. Proper face mask shields have also not been provided to staff to protect themselves from transmission of the virus. 3. Staff are directed to work in the front of the lobby to assist with the check-in of other staff members for security purposes, after an essential worker has been exposed to the virus the entire shift. Staff that has been in a hazardous environment should be quarantined, but that is not the case at the facility. 4. Staff should not have to touch inmate meal trays when the pod is under quarantine, especially when staff have not been give the proper PPE or training to assist with the prevention of spreading the virus. 5. Staff have worked in pods when it was later discovered that inmates tested positive for COVID-19. Some staff have not worn proper PPE when in the pods and could have been exposed to the virus and have not quarantined. In addition, medications have been administered to inmates without the employees wearing any PPE, which could have exposed the staff to the virus.
