1.A Metro Transit trolley drove into a work zone where Metro Transit electrical maintenance workers were set up. 2.Instead of stopping or even slowing, the trolley -- with its poles still attached to the wires -- drove through the work zone at regular speed. 3.The electrical workers narrowly missed getting injured by diving onto the floor of the elevated hoist they were using while the poles crashed into the hoist. This is a serious near-miss that could have resulted in death or injury to multiple employees. Trolley coach operators have been instructed many times on safety procedures around trolley electrical crews, yet they persist in dangerous behaviors. It is imperative that Washington Labor and Industries become involved in this as Metro Transit does not seem capable of acknowledging this problem, let alone correcting it.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-12-23
