Regulatory Report
1805 West 32nd Street, Baldwin, 49304 Michigan, United States
1. North Lake Correctional Facility just brought in over 500 inmates from California Taft prison, which houses immigrants of all nationalities, who were showing signs of Covid and of Valley Fever. A few inmates were transported to the hospital in some severe cases. They are still getting in more inmates who are showing symptoms of this virus. The inmates are supposedly on quarantine in their pods; however employees have to pass out food to them. This started in mid-March and is still continuing today. 2. The prison has quit sanitizing the radios. 3. Employees working 12-hour shifts are not getting paid for 3 of the hours. 4. There is a memo from the warden addressed to the inmates that is only in English and not Spanish. Therefore, the inmates cannot understand it and know what they are asking of the inmates. They are not being treated appropriately with this virus. They do not have appropriate PPE. 5. Employees also do not have proper PPE. Employees are required to wear surgical masks for weeks at a time, breathing through something that is falling apart and is not secured to your face because of the gaps on the sides of the cheeks. 6. A doctor with a family practice is testing staff for Covid. If an employee tests positive and show no symptoms, they are able to go to work while being positive. There are employees that have tested positive.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-05-07
