The school district, Chicago Public Schools is demanding and bullying teachers to return to the school building on January 4, 2021 and that students return Monday, January 11, 2021. Teachers haven't received proper training and/or safety to return to work during this time of higher COVID cases and deaths. Staff and students will be exposed to people who may have the virus and/or have been exposed. Some of the safety protocols that CPS stated that they will do haven't been done and there is no proof that the buildings are safe. Teachers do not feel safe returning to the school building and are afraid to do so. Because of some teachers ages and their spouses ages along with underlying health conditions, teachers are afraid of getting the virus and passing it along to family members who are compromised. In addition, the following information was sent to the teachers: "Without an approved accommodation or leave of absence, all Pre-K and Cluster staff members are required to report to work in-person starting on January 4th as previously directed by CPS. Consequently, your request to continue remote instruction cannot be granted and you are expected to report for in-person instruction starting on Monday, January 4, 2021. If you do not report for in-person instruction starting on January 4th, your absence from the school building will be unauthorized and CPS will take appropriate next steps."Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2021-01-04
