Regulatory Report

Covid-19 OSHA Complaint, Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, 990 Oak Ridge Turnpike, OAK RIDGE, TN, 37830, USA

5 years ago business

990 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, 37830 Tennessee, United States

1. Air circulated in the Emergency Room through and from rooms where COVID-19 positive patients have been treated. Hospital has not blocked off air returns or filtered air. 2. Employees are asked to reuse N95 masks even after aerosolizing events involving COVID-19 positive patients 3. The hospital is not conducting any reasonable investigations to determine whether or not employees are getting sick at work after having been unknowingly exposed to COVID-19 patients and or after having treated known COVID-19 positive patients. Little to no contact tracing is taking place. 4. Employees are not being notified when they are or have been working with employees who were infected with COVID-19. 5. Because the hospital is not using standard precautions of assuming patients are infected rather than assuming they are not, many employees are treating patients without the proper PPE only to afterward discover the patient was diagnosed with COVID-19 6. The hospital is not providing appropriate training in the donning and doffing of PPE required to be worn while treating or coming into contact with COVID-19 positive patients. 7. The hospital does not have a comprehensive respiratory protection program. 8. There have been numerous employees who have contracted COVID-19 and been very ill after having cared for COVID-19 positive patients only to be told there is no evidence that they contracted the illness at work. They are not attempting to determine whether this is happening at work. It appears they are doing the exact opposite attempting in light of the chaos surrounding this illness to ignore direct evidence that would certainly suggest more likely than not that these employees contracted COVID-19 at work as a result of their duties.
