1. We were informed on Wednesday October 21st that our administrator had been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, and that administrator was going to start a 14 day quarantine. On Tuesday October 20th there was a small staff meeting that took place with 10 people in a small conference room that the administrator attended. That administrator was tested and received a positive result on Monday October 26th. Our principal informed students the administrator who was positive was in close contact with to quarantine, but our staff that was in close contact was only encouraged to quarantine if they had symptoms. Multiple staff members that they felt bullied into returning to work by our superintendent due to a lack of substitute teachers. There was a press release mid day on Tuesday October 27th saying a staff member had tested positive and that they were working from home. The website for the Saginaw County Health Department clearly states under Schools that close contacts of a positive case need to quarantine for 14 days regardless of symptoms. I have heard from other teachers that when they contacted the health department they were told differing things and in our staff meeting on Tuesday October 27th there was no clear consensus. A majority of the teachers who were in close contact have been going to school every day. There were also substitute teachers brought in from the elementary buildings that were not informed that they were pulled because of a positive case and found out mid day Tuesday when the public announcement went out. There is a complete lack of transparency in the district surrounding Covid-19 and I believe our teachers fear retaliation from the superintendent and are unwilling to quarantine because they are nervous of how he will respond. The Saginaw County Health Department has said they informed our superintendent that those staff members who were exposed need to quarantine.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-10-28
