1.) School starts in a couple of days, and while the students are virtual, teachers are being required to report to the building. Many teachers have health conditions and I know of 50 teachers that requested an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act to work from home, and they were denied. They were told to either take FMLA or quit. 2.) We have no sanitation stations as were promised. 3.) The security guards don't wear masks, the janitors mostly don't wear masks, and many of the other workers if they wear a mask, wear it incorrectly making the mask useless. 4.) We have not even been given hand sanitizer. Every classroom has a spray bottle of something, but nothing to wipe with. When we asked for paper towels from the custodians, they said they are not allowed to give it to us. We were told to bring it from home. 5.)The buildings are old, at Pontiac Middle School there is Asbestos coming out of the ceiling by the band/choir room, the ventilation system is archaic and does not have the ability to safely filter the air enough to protect us from COVID. Classrooms in several buildings don't have windows to allow fresh air in, and those that do have windows they aren't allowed to be opened because of a security risk. This is also an issue when the weather is hot, most of the buildings don't have air conditioning. I know of several teachers that have developed heat-related illnesses because we are forced to work in these conditions.Source: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-09-08
