On May 20 and 21 all faculty and staff are being forced to be in the parking lot from 1-3 and 4-6 to accept materials back from students, and to hand back students' personal items. There are quite a few employees with underlying medical conditions, but also several other employees who have shown concern that we are not being provided with a safe work environment. When asked during two on-line meetings about protection, we were told that we should try our best to stay six feet apart during this drive-thru situation. But when the question was brought up about masks and gloves, we were told that it was a personal choice. Not only will employees be around each other in this way, but some employees will be reaching into front seats of vehicles to exchange materials. Add to that that 2 people in each line are responsible for cleaning Chromebooks before handing them off for the next person to return them to the cart. It is important for those people to have appropriate training, gloves, and masks if they are going to clean them correctly, without potentially just passing on the virus. Just simply using a provided wipe will not do the job if they continue to touch already cleaned areas with dirty hands, or inadvertently cough on them. We were told if we wanted a mask or gloves that we would need to bring our own. The school system is not taking the COVID19 seriously enough. Our employer is not providing a safe work environmentSource: Osha.gov | Receipt Date: 2020-05-13
