Coronavirus Uncle with symptoms came from Spain, South Carolina, USA

My uncle is so smart that he, while sick, went to Spain for vacation when Covid-19 started being global. He had the trip planned months in advance and was to last at least three months.He came home a few days ago with way worse symptoms. How did he get home from the airport? His elderly mother and father picked him up and drove him home. A nearly 40 minute trip from the airport.
He had planned to stay in Spain for at least three months and couldn't get a rental car to spare his elderly parents from possibly getting ill.
