An outage at a substation in Jeffersonville left thousands of Duke Energy customers in the dark. According to the Duke Energy online outage map, nearly 8,700 customers were without power during the peak of the outage. As of 3 p.m., the number of customers without power had dropped below 3,000. A company spokesperson said crews were working to restore power to customers and it is already restored. The cause of the outage is under investigation.
