Alliant Energy says a blown fuse at its substation in Brooklyn knocked power out for thousands of people Sunday morning. Alliant Energy is reporting a total of four outages in the Oregon and Brooklyn areas, affecting an estimated 2,374 customers.

See More power restored by 12:17 p.m. This outage affected numerous south side businesses and residences, and it also affected traffic lights along Center Street from Southridge Road to Iowa Avenue. The power outage affecting the south side was separate from a planned outage on West Main Street that began around 7 a.m. on Sunday morning and affected a limited number of Alliant customers. The planned outage was resolved at approximately 3 p.m. and was necessary to complete a customer request.
