Samsung Recalls Slide-In Electric Ranges Due to Fire Hazard photo #1

Samsung has issued a nationwide recall for its Slide-In Electric Ranges due to a fire hazard. The front-mounted knobs on the ranges can be accidentally activated by humans or pets, posing a significant risk. The items were sold at: Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe’s and other appliance stores nationwide in USA, and online at Samsung.com. The recall involves a variety of Samsung Electric Slide-In Ranges, with a total of about 1,120,905 units affected. Samsung received over 300 reports of unintentional activation of the front-mounted knobs since 2013. This has resulted in approximately 250 fires, causing extensive property damage in at least 18 instances. Around 40 injuries have been reported, with eight requiring medical attention. There have also been reports of seven fires involving pet deaths.

- The specific model numbers included in the recall can be found inside the upper left corner of the oven door or inside the storage bin located at the bottom of the oven.
- Manufacturer: Samsung Electronics America Inc., of Ridgefield Park, N.J.
- Manufactured in Thailand.
- Depending upon the model, the ranges were sold from May 2013 through August 2024 for between $1,250 and $3,050.

Consumers are advised to contact Samsung for a free set of knob locks or covers compatible with their model.
