Joy Joy’s Bakery Lakewood, Washington is recalling Ube Spanish Bread, Ube Ensaymada, and Ube Roll because it may contain undeclared wheat.  People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. No illnesses... See More have been reported to date. The recalled Ube Spanish Bread, Ube Ensaymada, and Ube Roll are sold at Joy Joy’s Bakery in Lakewood, Washington and sold at Fubonn Supermarket in Oregon.

The recalled products are packaged in plastic bags or in plastic clear clamshell containers and labeled with Joy Joy’s Bakery sticker.  There are no lot codes on packages and products were distributed between 1/15/23 and 1/25/23.

The recalled products labels declared flour but it does not specify wheat flour.  This labeling problem came to our attention by from the Oregon Department of Agriculture through the U. S. Food and Drug Administration.

Customers with a wheat allergy or sensitivity who have purchased the affected product are urged not to consume the product and dispose of it or return it to their place of purchase for a full refund.

See More Peanut Butter, Jif Creamy Peanut Butter To Go 1.5oz cups, Jif Natural Creamy Peanut Butter To Go 1.5oz cups, and Smuckers Peanut Butter 3/4oz cups due to a potential Salmonella contamination. No illnesses or deaths have been reported in consumption with A G Specialty Foods’ products to date.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The recalled products have 7-14 days shelf life and were distributed in Oregon and Washington to distributors, retailers and foodservice companies from 05/11/2022 through 05/23/2022 with Lot Codes from 129 to 141. A list of recalled products and affected Use By Dates range is listed below.
