Power has been restored for over 800 residents in downtown Lake Charles after an outage left them in the dark. The outage occurred at approximately 6:20 p.m. The Lake Charles Fire Department responded to smoke coming from a manhole near Broad and Ryan St.

Power has been restored to 5,800 residents in south Lake Charles. Power went out around 1:15 p.m. and was restored around 2:20 p.m. The outage was in areas of Country Club Road, south to Lincoln Road, and from Gulf Highway, west to Big Lake Road.

With freezing temperatures all across SWLA today there are numerous reports of power outages. Entergy’s outage map showed that a major power outage across south Lake Charles which affected over 6,000 residents and several off-and-on outages in north Lake Charles around Fruge St.
