Downed wires caused power outages in Hamden Monday. United Illuminating said there were two sections of downed wire at Benham Street and Paradise Avenue and there were around 1,100 power outages at the peak. Power has been restored.

About 2,000 homes in Hamden lost power on Saturday. United Illuminating (UI) reported 7.36 percent of their customers in Hamden lost power. Traffic lights on Dixwell Avenue to Putnam Avenue were down during the outage. Power was restored by 2:00 p.m.

The RWA tested water samples from multiple sites in the affected area and said they have verified that there is no risk of water contamination from the loss of pressure in the distribution system. The precautionary boil water advisory for those residents was canceled on Saturday.
