Waves of strong thunderstorms rolled across Upstate New York on Sunday, knocking down trees from far Western New York to Albany, but largely sparing Central New York from severe damage. More than 20,000 people were still without power this morning, mostly in the Southern Tier, Catskills and Capital District regions.
